well there was no wind where I was and weather observations had none
anywhere near me either. Not keen to waste the 9m spring tide current, I
hoisted the sails and set off for one of two islands I expected to
reach by slack water at noon. Drifted all the way to within .2nm (360m)
of the first, the current started going the other way, tried for the
next choice using the rudder as a paddle, no chance. Afternoon sea
breeze wasn't going to take me anywhere near land so I checked the
charts for the nearest shallow water and here I am. Were the sun on
territory time I could have reached the main island i've been heading
for lately, its only 6nm away now.
